  1. Unoptimised images — a photo of 4 MB where 80 KB of WebP is needed. Blame number 1 in 8 of 10 sites.
  2. Cheap, crowded hosting - server responds slowly before anything starts to load.
  3. Too many add-ons/scripts — each plugin, widget and "only one more tracking tool" slows down.
  4. No Cache — The site is built for each visitor from the beginning instead of serving a finished copy.
  5. Effects on themes - a topic that can do anything, so it's slow.
